Gore In The Store chats with writer and director Andy Edwards to discuss RUMPELSTILTSKIN, his sinister take on the fairy tale chose as the closing film for this year's FrightFest Glasgow. Andy tells us about his influences on the film, fairy tale horror and the state of british genre filmmaking.

IN CONVERSATION WITH HAYDEN HEWITT
After its world premiere at FrightFest 2024, Hayden Hewitt’s directorial feature debut is released by 101 Films on digital platforms. Starring Elle O’Hara as the titular character, CARA is the uncompromising story of a young woman facing her harrowing past while dealing with feelings of paranoia of being sent back to her care home.
Dealing with such issues as psychiatric trauma, online sex work and abuse, Hayden Hewitt’s uncompromising and tough debut film sets out to unnerve its audience. Gore In The Store talked to Hewitt about the genesis of the project, its confrontational nature and his own influences.

IN CONVERSATION WITH ALBERTO CORREDOR
The horror of what lies in a pub basement is the culmination of a long journey for Spanish director Alberto Corredor, who adapted his 2017 short film into his feature debut, BAGHEAD.
In conversation with FRIGHTFEST, Corredor discussed how his journey might not quite be at an end, being drawn to emotional suspense and the sequels that stand up to their predecessors.

Director Airell Anthony Hayles’ WEREWOLF SANTA offers an amusing and demented twist on the myth of Santa Claus – a hidden bonus may be that it offsets Coca-Cola’s annoyingly saccharine commercial image of the goody two-shoes. In keeping with the spirit of Christmas unity, however, a family band together to save the day when Werewolf Santa goes on a rampage through town.
Speaking with FrightFest, Hayles discussed getting away with “double marzipan”, compromising his original vision and embracing those surprising moments.

IN CONVERSATION WITH DANNY AND MICHAEL PHILIPPOU
Danny and Michael Philippou’s gruelling character horror TALK TO ME centres on friends who conjure up spirits with an embalmed hand. Becoming hooked on the thrill, the teenagers excitedly record the episodes, but it becomes a dangerous vice for grief-stricken Mia (Sophie Wilde). When she undermines her best friend Jade (Alexandra Jensen) and allows her brother Riley (Joe Bird) to have a go, she realises her grave mistake.
